”We cultivate particularly feeling for material and space…Basic Design is a forming out of material, which demonstrates the possibilities and limits of materials. This method emphasizes learning, a personal experience, rather than teaching. And so it is important to make inventions and discoveries…”

These workshops have been thought and designed in sequential order, which means that it is recommended to first take workshop 1 Introduction to V-folding and only then workshop 2 From pattern to the folded structure. If you already have experience in the folding paper process, you can directly take workshop no.2, but the ideal would be to start with the first one.

Workshop 2: From pattern to the folded structure

The workshop aims to continue the study of one of the fundamental elements in the design and construction of folded structures, specifically their primary geometric component: the module.

It is a journey through concepts and exercises that cross the processes of paper folding that will allow the participants not only to understand how these structures are created and how they work, but also to provide them with the skills to recreate them and even to be able to explore the creation of new folded structures. A workshop to discover secrets in the creation with paper.

Include:

  • 14 videos with more than 15 exercises and about 80 diagrams to describe each exercise step by step.
  • theory supplement and exercises (PDF)

Methodology

Composed of a series of videos that describe step by step, each of the exercises to be performed and that will guide the learning process. These exercises are aimed at developing the manual ability to manage the material in the creation of folds and to understand how the process of transforming the sheet from its two-dimensional to three-dimensional state works.

The videos will be accompanied by a document (PDF) with proposed exercises to be carried out during or after watching the video.

Please note all video content is pre-recorded, there are no live sessions.
